Have You Heard the Very Good, but Maybe Not "Great" News?

Romero’s Night of the Living Dead Chris Condon’s News From the Fallout (2026) wears its inspirations on its sleeve. Citing George A Romero’s Night of the Living Dead as a direct inspiration, Condon steeps much of the narrative in what has been done, but still adds quite a unique flavor to it all. At its core, it is a familiar zombie survival story flavored with nuclear anxiety, but Condon distinguishes it through Jeffrey Alan Love’s haunting artwork and an undercurrent of religious symbolism that gestures toward something more profound. The comic repeatedly flirts with larger questions about faith, nuclear annihilation, and humanity's capacity for self-destruction, but does Condon successfully cover the breadth of these ideas?
